We were pleased to host the United Area (Barrow Churches) Maundy Thursday service. The service was arranged and led by Zena and was completely different to the usual type of service. We all sat round tables and after hymns, readings and prayers we had supper of bread, cheese, grapes and wine (well fruit juice really!)
Easter Sunday began with Communion followed by breakfast together and then an Easter Celebration Service in which many of the congregation took part.
The Daffodil tea held on Wednesday April 24th was enjoyed by everyone. People took part in a table quiz and game before sharing in an afternoon tea. £154 was raised for Church funds. Thank you to all who helped and to those who came along to support the event.
We are looking forward to Sunday May 5th when we have an infant baptism and we will be welcoming his family and friends.
Our next fund raising event will be on Saturday June 22nd when we are holding a coffee morning at Dalton Community Church. We will need help on the day, of course, but also cakes for the cake stall, tombola and raffle prizes and items for the second hand stall.
If items can be brought in good time (the week before) this will be very much appreciated.
Our Lent lunch on Ash Wednesday raised £70 for Christian Aid
The second class of year 3 children from Greengate Junior School came to visit us bringing along their favourite books to read to us. As it was World Book day on the day they came, several of the children were dressed as their favourite characters. We had a few Harry Potters, a Mathilda and a scruffy little boy called Oliver!
FACTORS met on Friday 8th March to work on their contribution to Trinity’s Bible Stories exhibition. We meet again on Friday April 5th at 6pm.
Ramsden Street is hosting the United Area Maundy Thursday (18th April) service at 7pm and the Free Church Good Friday Service the following day will be held at the Baptist Church at 10.45am. There is no coffee morning on this day.
On Easter Sunday (April 21st) we will begin our morning worship with a short Communion Service at 10.15am followed by a light breakfast at 10.30am and an Easter Celebration Service at 11.00am. There is a list to sign up for breakfast.
On Wednesday April 24th we are holding a Daffodil Tea and tickets are available at £3.50. Stalls – mainly books and jigsaws – will be open from 2.30pm and tea will be served at 3pm
